VEDAT ÖZSOY (PhD)
Kayseri’nin Pınarbaşı ilçesinde dünyaya geldi (19 Haziran 1956). Gazi EÄŸitim Enstitüsü Resim-Ä°ÅŸ Bölümü’nü bitirdi (1978).
​
Fethiye Lisesi'nde resim öÄŸretmenliÄŸi yaptı (1979-1980). Kültür Bakanlığı Kayseri Devlet Güzel Sanatlar Galerisi MüdürlüÄŸü görevini yerine getirdi (1980-1987).
​
Berlin Goethe Enstitüsü’ne devam etti (1983).
​
Gazi EÄŸitim Fakültesi Resim-Ä°ÅŸ EÄŸitimi Bölümü’nde lisans tamamlama yaptı ve bu bölüme AraÅŸtırma Görevlisi oldu (1987).
​
Ä°ngiltere Birmingham City Üniversitesi Institute of Art and Design’da Yüksek Lisansını (1991), Gazi Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsünde Doktorasını (1995), Arizona State University, College of Fine Arts’da Post-Doktorasını (1996-97) tamamladı.

Milli EÄŸitim Bakanlığı Talim ve Terbiye Kurulu Ä°lköÄŸretim Resim-Ä°ÅŸ Dersi ÖÄŸretim Programı GeliÅŸtirme Komisyonu BaÅŸkanlığı yaptı (1992).
​
Anadolu Güzel Sanatlar Liseleri program geliÅŸtirme çalışmalarına ve hizmet içi kurslarına eÄŸitici olarak katıldı (1991-2012).
​
1998’de Resim-Ä°ÅŸ EÄŸitimi alanında Doçent ve 2004’te Profesör oldu.
​
YükseköÄŸretim Kurulu’nun Dünya Bankası destekli projesi çerçevesinde, EÄŸitim Fakülteleri Program GeliÅŸtirme Çalışma Grubu, Fakülte-Okul Ä°ÅŸbirliÄŸi Programı Çalışma Gurubu ve Akreditasyon Çalışma Gurubu Üyelikleri görevlerinde bulundu (1997-2002).

Londra’da Teacher Agency’de ve Boston’da Harvard University Graduate School of Education’de akreditasyon uzmanlığı seminerlerine katıldı (1999).
​
European League of the Institute of the Arts (ELIA) ve International Council of Fine Arts Deans (CFAD) ile Birmingham City University tarafından birlikte düzenlenen Sanat ve Tasarım EÄŸitiminde Kalite Güvencesi Uzmanlığı eÄŸitimine katıldı (2008).
​
Kanada Vancouver’da British Columbia University’de misafir profesör olarak bir yıl görev yaptı (2016-2017).
​
Türkiye Radyo - Televizyon Kurumu Yönetim Kurulu üyeliÄŸi yaptı (2000-2004).
​
Görsel Sanatlar EÄŸitimi DerneÄŸi’ni (GÖRSED) kurdu (2003).
​
Üyesi olduÄŸu International Society for Education Through Art’ın (InSEA) 7. Avrupa Bölge Kongresinin Türkiye’de düzenlenmesinde etkili oldu (2004).
​
Ä°ki dönem InSEA Dünya Konseyi üyeliÄŸine seçildi (2008-2014). Bu görev sırasında The World Alliance for Arts Education (WAAE)’in New Castle/ Ä°ngiltere ve Seul / Kore’de yapılan genel kurul ve kongrelerine katıldı.
​
2014-2017 dönemi InSEA Genel SekreterliÄŸi görevini yerine getirdi.
​
Erciyes Üniversitesi, Güzel Sanatlar Fakültesi Dekanlığı görevini yaptı (2005-2008).
​
TOBB Ekonomi ve Teknoloji Üniversitesi, Güzel Sanatlar, Tasarım ve Mimarlık Fakültesi Dekanlığı (2008-2015) görevlerini yaptı.
​
Bu görevleri sırasında Üniversitelerarası Kurul (ÜAK) Sanat Dalları EÄŸitim Konseyi ve EÄŸitim Komisyonu üyeliklerinde bulundu (2005-2015).
​
Görsel Sanatlar EÄŸitimi DeneÄŸi tarafından geleneksel olarak verilen Görsel Sanatlar EÄŸitimi Onur Ödülüne lâyık görüldü (2013).
​
​
TED Ankara Özel Okulları Görsel Sanatlar Dersi ÖÄŸretim Programı GeliÅŸtirme Komisyonuna danışmanlık yaptı (2013-2014).
​
Ankara Yenimahalle Ä°lçe Milli EÄŸitim MüdürlüÄŸü’nün Ankara Kalkınma Ajansının desteÄŸi ile hazırladığı “Okulum Ankara” müze eÄŸitimi projesine danışmanlık yaptı (2016).
​
Sanatla El Ele Köprü Kurmak adlı AB Projesi (2006) ve Görsel Kültür Kuramının Ä°lk ve Ortaokul Derslerinde Uygulanması adlı TÜBÄ°TAK 4005 projesi (2018) gerçekleÅŸtirdi.
​
2018 yılında baÅŸladığı TÜBÄ°TAK 4003 Bilim Merkezleri KurulmasıDanışma ve DeÄŸerlendirme Kurulu üyeliÄŸi ve APEAS Ä°nÅŸaat Firmasında sanat danışmanlığı görevini de yürütmektedir.
Dr. Özsoy, halen TOBB ETÜ Mimarlık ve Tasarım Fakültesi, Sanat ve Tasarım Bölümünde eÄŸitim, öÄŸretim ve araÅŸtırma etkinliklerini sürdürmektedir.

Vedat Özsoy was born in Pınarbaşı, Kayseri (June 19, 1956).
​
Graduated from Gazi Education Institute, Department of Art and Crafts (1978).
​
He worked as an art teacher in Fethiye High School (1979-1980).
​
He served as the director of the Ministry of Culture’s Kayseri State Fine Arts Gallery (1980-1987).
​
He attended the Goethe Institute in Berlin (1983).
He completed his undergraduate studies at the Department of Art and Craft Education at Gazi Faculty of Education and became a research assistant at this department (1987).
​
​He received his MA (1991) from Birmingham City University, Institute of Art and Design, and his PhD from Gazi University, Graduate School of Social Sciences (1995).
He was the chairman of the Art Education for the Grades 1-8 Curriculum Program Development Committee of the Board of Education and Training of the Ministry of National Education (1991/1992).
He attended Anatolian Fine Arts High Schools curriculum development working group and in-service courses as an instructor (1991-2012).

In 1998, he became associate professor in the field of art and craft education and, in 2004 he became a professor.
​
​Within the framework of World Bank supported project of Higher Education Council, he worked as a member of the Program Development Working Group, the Faculty-School Cooperation Program Working Group and the Accreditation Working Group (1997-2002).
​
​He participated in the Teacher Agency in London and in the accreditation specialist seminars at Harvard University Graduate School of Education in Boston (1999).
He attended the Quality Assurance Specialization Training in Art and Design Education, jointly organized by Birmingham City University and the International Council of Fine Arts Deans (2008).
​
​He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Radio - Television Corporation (2000-2004).
He founded the Visual Arts Education Association (GÖRSED) (2003).
​
He took an active role in International Society for Education Through Art (InSEA)'s 7th European Regional Congress held in Turkey (2004).
​
He was elected to the InSEA World Council for two terms (2008-2014). During his tenure, he was a member of The World Alliance for Arts Education (WAAE) and joined its two meetings in New Castle and Seoul.
​
In 2014-2017 period, he served as InSEA Secretary.
​
​He worked as the Dean of Faculty of Fine Arts of Erciyes University (2005-2008).
The Dean of Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture (2008-2015) at the TOBB University of Economics and Technology.
During this period, he served as a member of Inter-university Council (ÜAK) Art Education Board and Education Commission (2005-2015).
He was awarded the Honor Award for Visual Arts Education (2013), traditionally given by the Visual Arts Education Association (GÖRSED 2013).

He conducted the EU Project, Hand in Hand with Art in Roma / Italy (2006) .
​
He worked at British Columbia University in Vancouver for a year as a visiting professor (2016-2017).
​
D. Özsoy realized the TÜBÄ°TAK 4005 project (2018/2019) titled Implementation of Visual Culture Theory in Primary and Secondary School Courses.
​
He worked as a consultant to TED Ankara Private Schools Visual Arts Course Curriculum Development Commission (2013-2014).
He has acted as a consultant for the museum education project 'My School Ankara' prepared by the Yenimahalle District Directorate of National Education and with the support of Ankara Development Agency (2016).
​
He is an art consultant for APEAS Ltd.
​
Dr. Özsoy has been a Member of the Advisory and Evaluation Board of the TUBITAK 4003 Support Program for the Establishment of the Science Center since 2018.
Currently, Dr. Özsoy continues its education, training and research activities in the Department of Art and Design at the Faculty of Architecture and Design of TOBB University of Economics and Technology.
